University of Utah & University of Houston Joint Technical Conference on Energy Geosciences and the Energy Transition

Oct. 24, 2024

The 2024 Joint Technical Conference hosted by the University of Houston and the University of Utah’s Energy & Geoscience Institute took place last October. It delved into the latest research and developments on modern energy technologies, from oil and gas exploration to natural hydrogen, energy efficiency and grid resilience, carbon dioxide capture and sequestration, and geothermal energy.

The conference aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, showcasing how innovative research can drive practical solutions and advancements. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how these emerging technologies and methodologies can enhance operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and create new opportunities in the energy sector.

Over two days industry professionals connected with leading researchers, exchanged ideas, and explored collaborative efforts that can propel the energy industry forward.

Speaker agenda consisted of presentations by Dr. Ramanan Krishnamoorti, Vice President for Energy and Innovation and Professor of Petroleum Engineering at University of Houston along with EGI Director Dr. Milind Deo, among many others from the University of Houston and University of Utah. Keynote speaker Dr. Scott Tinker, of the Bureau of Economic Geology at UT Austin and Tinker Energy Associates, discussed Energy Poverty and the Energy Transition to a crowd of interested experts.
