Petroleum Research Center (PERC)
Experience and Capabilities
Laboratory
- Black and yellow wax characterization, composition
- Wax remediation and transportation
- Bubble and dew points of oils
- Emission factors
Modeling and Simulation
- Designed the first waterflood in the Monument Butte Area
- Helped optimize water injection to manage water cuts
- Horizintal well placement, hydraulic fracture design and modeling production
Planned Initiative
- Address questions related to optimum production of waxy oil (black and yellow) from long, fractured, horizontal wells.
- Create solutions for improving oil production through enhanced oil recovery – by carbon dioxide injection or otherwise.
- Assess/create solutions for transporting waxy oil.
- Examine energy efficiency options to reduce fuel use, emissions and save costs.
- Quantify emission factors and help provide local laboratory facilities to measure oil and gas compositions.
- Respond to industry needs on helping to recover best value from the Basin.
