2021 to current: Engineering and Operations Advisor, Energy & Geoscience Institute, University of Utah.  Counsels research support team for three areas of expertise in geothermal systems, hydrocarbon geoscience, and carbon sequestration. 

2015 to 2020: Supervising Oil and Gas Engineer, Division of Oil and Gas (DOGGR), State of California.  Managed four regulatory units in underground gas storage and emerging technology, geographic information systems, well construction regulations, and environmental quality.     

2008 to 2015: Director, Technology Outreach and Innovation Program, Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative (USTAR), State of Utah.  Directed the USTAR technology outreach program in support of University of Utah and Utah State University energy technology research commercialization.  

2008: Director, Special Operations Theater Liaison Element and Iraq Energy Training Institute, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Baghdad, Iraq.  Directed “white-side” special operations element and training division of the Energy Fusion Cell in support of combat operations and economic recovery during “The Surge” for echelons above Corps.

2003 to 2007:  Director, Gas Supply, Questar Corporation Managed integrated resource planning, natural gas supply, logistics, and commodity trading for a multi-state natural gas local distribution company.

2003: Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines, Zamboanga, Philippines.  Commanded 600-person special operations forward deployed units in combat operations supporting US Pacific Command and Filipino Southern Command counter insurgency operation on Mindanao and surrounding maritime environment.  

1999 to 2003: Director, Gas Supply, Questar Gas Company.  Managed integrated resource planning, natural gas supply, logistics, and commodity trading for a multi-state natural gas local distribution company.

1997 to 1999:  Director, Industrial Gas Marketing, Questar Energy Trading.  Managed commodities and natural gas purchase and sales for an energy trading company. 

1993 to 1996:  Director, Gas Acquisition and Transportation Marketing, Questar Gas Company.  Managed gas purchase and transportation logistics for a multi-state natural gas local distribution company.

1990 to 1993:  Director, Gas Acquisition, Questar Pipeline Company.  Ensured reliable natural gas supply for an interstate pipeline in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado.   

1986 to 1990:  Senior Engineer and Supervisor State Regulatory Affairs, Mountain Fuel Supply Company, Salt Lake City, Utah.   Performed petroleum engineering and management functions for oil and gas production in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado.

1981 to 1985: Petroleum Engineer, Amoco Production Company, Evanston Wyoming.  Performed petroleum engineering and management functions for sour gas production and retrograde-gas condensate wells in south west Wyoming and Utah.    

1980 to 1981: Product Development Engineer, General Electric Company, Pittsfield Massachusetts Performed technical and marketing functions supporting development of combat vehicle components for the M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

1976 to 1979: Captain, United States Army, Vicenza, Italy, Commanded US Army Artillery firing battery elements in support of Allied Command Europe (Airborne). 

1975 to 1976: Lieutenant, United States Army, Corlu, Turkey, Commanded US Army Artillery platoon in support of 4th Turkish Corps nuclear artillery units. 

1974: Lieutenant, United States Army, Ft Benning, Georgia and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Student at US Army Airborne, Ranger, Field Artillery, and Nuclear Artillery Schools.

US Army: Colonel, retired in 2004, recalled in 2007, and retired in 2008.
