Welcoming New EGI Staff

Molly Ellowitz Trauscht

EGI is delighted to welcome Molly Trauscht as the new EGI Global Database Coordinator

Molly Trauscht grew up in Salt Lake City and completed bachelor’s degrees in Geology and Geography at the University of Utah in 2014. While working on her degrees, she worked as a Data Analyst and Research Assistant at EGI (2011 – 2014). After graduating from the University of Utah she joined TerraTek – Schlumberger with the Petrology team and managed the XRD prep and analysis labs. The following summer Molly left the labs and took to the dirt roads of southern Utah as the GIS field intern with the State of Utah. In June she completed a Master’s degree in Geology from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon where she studied the dynamics of magma recharge and mixing at Mount Hood.

Molly’s varied background brings to EGI a skilled scholar with a strong understanding and appreciation of the scientific process, data management, and the principles of geology and cartography. She specializes in numerical modeling, petrology, volcanology, GIS, and fluid dynamics.

As Coordinator of EGI’s Global Database, Molly is integrated in the Informatics team, and works closely with Geomatics, the Director, research staff, and EGI partners to ensure delivery of quality products by EGI scientists and research teams. With an eye to future upgrades, she maintains EGI’s library and Online Global Database, EGIconnect, and assists research staff and scientists with literary searches, bibliographic reference, digitizing, final production and distribution of all EGI products, and daily updates and overall management of EGIconnect. Molly also supports EGIconnect members directly with data requests, customer support, and training opportunities for EGIconnect.

Kiriaki Pentari – Finance Manager

We warmly welcome Kiriaki (Kiki) Pentari as EGI’s new Finance Manager.

Kiki has been with the University for many years, most of them under central administration where she worked closely with administrative staff, faculty and students across campus as well as outside vendors and consultants. Her positions within central administration have helped her gain an extensive knowledge of the schools’ financial and payroll system, policies and administrative rules as well as Federal and State regulations. The last few years she has been working in an academic/research department where she provided support and guidance to faculty on all aspects of Pre- and Post-award processes.

She brings to EGI extensive and valuable knowledge of University financial and payroll systems, policies, and administrative rules as well as Federal and State regulations. Her background as a member of the initial implementation team for PeopleSoft Financials offers invaluable insights into best practices as will surely benefit EGI in all our financial activities.

With a diverse background and keenly honed administrative and financial knowledge, Kiki is at the ready to support EGI in all areas of Budget system (EPM), HR and KRONOS, analyzing and forecasting revenue, monitoring expenditures for compliance with University policies and procedures, State and Federal laws, and expense reporting regulations.

Kiki is a determined and focused financial manager who is always up for a challenge and is excited to dig in to helping her department — a trait that is surely going to serve us well at EGI.
