Prolonging the UK Oil and Gas Industry

Al Fraser provides insight, expertise to UK House of Commons Panel Discussion

In October 2016, the UK House of Commons and the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB) hosted a panel discussion between politicians, academics, industry professionals, and governing bodies to consider ways in which to protect and ensure the future of North Sea oil and gas production.

Al Fraser, EGI Chair in Petroleum Geoscience at Imperial College, London, joined members of Parliament, the energy industry, and the UK Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) in the panel discussion aimed at enhancing the efficiency and longevity of oil & gas exploration in the UK. The event was presented by PESGB as an annual discussion with UK policymakers.

Dr. Fraser’s topics for discussion focused on the UK Onshore potential from both an unconventional and conventional perspective, as well as sharing some of his past experience from the North Sea and a discussion of Weald Basin evolution.
