Announcing Milind Deo as Next EGI Director

EGI and the University of Utah are delighted to announce Dr. Milind Deo, Peter D. and Catherine R. Meldrum Endowed Professor of Chemical Engineering and EGI Affiliate Scientist, as the next Director of the Energy & Geoscience Institute. Dr. Deo previously served as Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Special Assistant to the Vice President of Research before succeeding Dr. Raymond Levey who retired in December 2020.

Dr. Deo brings over 30 years of academic and research experience to EGI, in a wide array of specialties ranging from reservoir evaluation and engineering, carbon dioxide enhanced oil recovery and sequestration, and flow of fluids including in nanoporous environments. Some of Dr. Deo's recent research projects conducted with EGI include Enhanced Oil Recovery in Shales (I01284), Beyond Digital Rock Physics (I01285), and Multiphase Flow in Fracture Networks | Production Effects on Recovery (I01300). Dr. Deo's work has earned him multiple prestigious recognitions, including a Distinguished Lectureship with SPE in 2017-18, and was elected as a Fellow of AIChE in 2012.
