There is a considerable interest in understanding the production of liquids from shales with the discovery and exploitation of liquid producing regions in the Eagle Ford. The average recovery factors for Bakken are estimated to be around 9%. The fundamental mechanisms of storage and production of liquids from Bakken may be different from formations like Eagle Ford and Niobrara. It is important to understand how liquids are produced from ultra-low permeability rocks so that production rates and recovery could be optimized.
The geological and engineering considerations in optimizing fluids (liquids and gas) recoveries from shales are complex and our comprehensive study of fluids production from shales will include all or most of these components.
